The University Student Club of A.U.Th. was established by Law Decree No. 3974/1959 (Government Gazette 188/A/1959) as a Legal Entity of Public Law, and its organization and operation were regulated by Parliamentary Decree 26 (Government Gazette 8/A/1961) and Presidential Decrees 387/1983 (Government Gazette 141/A/1983) and 207/2005 (Government Gazette 251/A/2005) and their amendments.

With law 4957/2022 (Government Gazette 141/A/2022) from 1-7-2023, it was incorporated into A.U.Th., operates as an Independent Directorate which is directly subordinate to the Rector of the Institution (Government Gazette 5990/B/2023) and is overseen by the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Extroversion, Lifelong Learning, and Student Welfare (Government Gazette 1373/B/2024).
